8 tips for maximising your webinar views using social media

Social media is one of the best platforms available for promoting webinars. It is a powerful tool that helps you expand your reach, find the right audience and convert followers into registered attendees. Here’s how to do it.

1. Set a date

Yes, it may sound obvious, but start by locking in a date for your webinar. It's best to start promoting early. Give yourself plenty of time for planning and marketing. By doing so, you can build excitement in the run up to the webinar with an influx of content and conversation on multiple social platforms.

2. Consider your audience

There’s no point pushing your promotions all over the internet without any purpose. Consider who your webinar will benefit and who will find your presentation interesting and useful. Focus your efforts on your targeted audience to maximize conversions. Use targeted adverts on social media to reach the most appropriate people and encourage people to discuss the event on their own social media accounts. This is the best method to raise interest, share material and push attendees to pages where they can register.

3. Craft your message

Your promotional messages should be clear, concise and appeal directly to your audience. Give your social media followers a compelling reason to attend your webinar. To do this, identify a problem or opportunity and present your webinar as the method or solution. Your webinar will score extra interest if it covers a niche topic, if there is a lack of content around the subject or if you can provide specialised expertise.

4. Create promotional content

As well as regularly tweeting, posting and sharing to spark conversation around the webinar, you should create additional content for a variety of channels. Write articles and blogs around related subjects including shareable videos and images. Point all this promotional content back to your registration page.

5. Distribute content across social media channels

Target industry social media channels and share your content there. Start with your internal blogs and company websites, using CTAs and pop-up boxes to drive registrations. Remember to extend your efforts to all available channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. Don't forget to monitor the social responses to see what content is working and which networks are engaged.

6. Catch the eye of influencers

‘Influencers’ are big names within your industry who have huge social media presences. Therefore they have the power to give your webinar attendance a sudden boost. If they share your content or even post a direct link to your webinar page, then you'll be in for a busy event. Don’t be afraid to reach out to influencers personally!

7. Remember real life connections

Real life connections are still as valuable as ever. Promoting your webinar in a face-to-face environment is a powerful way to win people over. Attend seminars and conferences to meet new contacts, reach out to existing friends, utilise resources in your industry and let word of mouth do the hard work.

8. Share slides before and after webinar

After the webinar, follow up by sharing the slides with the attendees as well as anybody who registered but was unable to make it on the day. Attendees who enjoyed your talk will hopefully pass on the resources. You should also post the resources on your website for people to view in the future. Your slides are bound to encourage others to take a look at your next event.
